A 31-year-old man from Franklin will face the ACT Magistrate’s Court this morning (Monday, 5 March 2018) for assault.

At about 8.00pm on Sunday (4 March 2018), police took the man into protective custody.

As police neared the police vehicle, it is alleged the man turned his head towards an officer and bit the officer on the forearm.

As police attempted to place the man into the police vehicle, he again turned towards the same officer attempting to bite him a second time.

The man was placed in the rear of the police vehicle and taken to the ACT Watch House.

The man was charged with two counts of assault.

The police officer received redness and swelling to his forearm.
