Woman allegedly assaulted during attempted carjacking near Leisure Centre

Police are searching for a pair of women accused of an attempted robbery and vehicle theft in Gungahlin.

It’s believed the duo approached a driver sitting in her parked white Nissan SUV near the intersection of Gozzard and Efkarpidis Streets at about 5:45 pm on Thursday (1 September).

One woman allegedly opened the vehicle door, brandished a knife and verbally threatened the female driver before demanding she get out of the car.

When she refused, police said she was assaulted before the duo ran off towards the Gungahlin Leisure Centre.

The two women have been described as under 30 years of age, about 165 cm tall, of slim build, of Caucasian appearance, and both were wearing black clothing.

Police have called for any witnesses, or those with CCTV or dashcam footage, in the areas surrounding the incident to get in touch. This included any suspicious behaviour near the Gungahlin Leisure Centre at about 5:45 pm.
