The owners of the Gold Creek Country Club are inviting the community of Gungahlin to help ‘re:imagine’ almost half of the Gold Creek Country Club which may no longer be required as a golf course.

A ‘blank canvas’ in the form of a map, has been released to the community in a call for ideas on what could be built on 49 hectares of the Gold Creek Country Club over the next decade.

Harry Konstantinou, Director of the re:imagine project invited the community of Gungahlin to take the blank map and fill it with new and innovative ideas.

‘This is a genuine consultation program, we have plans to create a new compact golf course and are seeking ideas about what could be developed on the remainder of the golf course’ Mr Konstantinou said.

‘We are looking for ideas about community spaces, event areas, commercial spaces and housing options for the area. Over the next few months we will be hosting events, door knocking our near-neighbours, running an online survey and generally encouraging people to have their say’.

The re:imagine project will also see the development of a People’s Panel to help guide this project. The panel will be a deliberative process where community representatives will consider the feedback gathered from the community and provide advice and recommendations to the re:imagine project team.

The Panel will have an independent Chairperson and to ensure as many views as possible are considered, we are seeking a broad range of people on the People’s Panel.
