With so much happening in Canberra this weekend, why not take a free ACTION bus to avoid parking hassles and save time and money.

ACTION, in partnership with relevant event organisers, can take you to and from the AFL, Super Rugby and the ACTEWAGL Royal Canberra Show this Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

“ACTION passengers attending the NAB Challenge and the Royal Canberra Show can travel to and from the events for free by simply showing a match ticket or pre-purchased show ticket to the bus driver when boarding,” Minister for Transport and Municipal Services Meegan Fitzharris said.

“By showing your ticket, travel will be free all day on any bus when getting to or from both of these events.

“There are also free chartered buses running to and from the Super Rugby game this Friday night, making it even easier to cheer on the Brumbies.”

ACTION services for each of the three events are as follows:

Greater Western Sydney and Western Bulldogs NAB Challenge (at Manuka Oval) Thursday 25 February 2016

  • Free chartered buses will operate regularly from 5.30pm departing the Woden Bus Station (Platform 10) and the City Bus Station (Platform 11).
  • Residents in Belconnen and Tuggeranong can access these chartered buses by taking a Blue Rapid 300 service to Woden or the City for free, and residents from Gungahlin can take the Red Rapid 200 service to the city for free.
  • Free return services will take you back to Woden and the City after the game.
  • You must show your game day ticket to be entitled to free travel.

Brumbies and Hurricanes Super Rugby (at GIO Stadium)

    Friday 26 February 2016

  • Free chartered buses will depart regularly from all major bus stations.
  • Free return services will take you back to major bus stations after the game.

Royal Canberra Show (at Exhibition Park in Canberra – EPIC) Friday 26 February – Sunday 28 February 2016

  • ACTION’s Red Rapid services provide frequent service to EPIC during the week with additional 900 and 950 services operating across the weekend to assist getting to and from the show.
  • Special charter buses will take you from EPIC to the City on Friday and Saturday nights.
  • Passengers are reminded that free travel applies on the day of your pre-purchased Royal Canberra Show ticket only.

Plan your travel ahead of time to ensure an enjoyable experience before and after any of the three events,” said Minister Fitzharris. More information on routes and times are available at the ACTION website or call ACTION on 13 17 10.
