Teen charged with attempted murder

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder and a number of other serious charges following an incident in Palmerston on Friday night.

At about 10.15pm on Friday, 15 March 2019, ACT Policing received a call for assistance to an assault occurring in Tamborine Close, Palmerston.

A 17-year-old boy engaged police at the scene and after OC spray was deployed, a number of officers restrained the boy.

Three victims were identified – including an 83-year-old man with critical injuries. All three were transported to hospital as well as the 17-year-old boy.

Police will allege the boy randomly attacked the three individuals in their vehicle as they arrived at a residence in Tamborine Close.

The boy was subsequently charged with attempted murder, threats to kill, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and obstruction of a Territory official. He is expected to appear before the Children’s Court this afternoon where bail will be opposed.

Police would still like to speak with anyone who saw (or has CCTV footage) of the boy in the area of Tamborine Close and surrounding streets prior to 10.15pm on Friday night.
