ACT Policing has located a missing 7-month-old baby boy, who had been inside a car when it was stolen from Ngunnawal earlier today (Friday 20 February).

About 2pm, police received a report that a silver 1999 Mazda 323 Protégé had been stolen from Yarrawonga Street, Ngunnawal. A woman, the driver of the Mazda, had gone to the assistance of a man whose car had broken down. The man then jumped into the woman’s car and took off, with her 7-month-old baby boy inside.

About 3.45pm, a member of the public located the silver Mazda, which had sustained damage, in the driveway of their residence in Palmerston when they returned home and reported it to police immediately.

The baby was located safe and well on the porch of the residence and reunited with his parents a short time later.

ACT Policing is continuing to search for the male offender, described as having a slim build, Caucasian in appearance, aged in his 20’s, wearing white and blue Nike runners and a black baseball cap.

If you see this man, please do not approach him. Please call ACT Policing on 131 444 immediately.
