Lights! Camera! Action! Cinema for Gungahlin

With the population for Gungahlin growing and as the children of the area get older it is about time Gungahlin started to get it’s own entertainment facilities.

For residents of Gungahlin to travel to Belconnen or Civic for a night out to watch the latest blockbuster on the silver screen is really inconvenient. For mum and dad who want a night out without the kids they will have to pay out for at least an extra hours worth of babysitting just to cover the travel to and from. For the kids to head out on their own, are the buses from another town centre to Gungahlin and then onto home good enough on a Friday or Saturday night?Would you like to see a cinema in Gungahlin? How often would you go? What type of cinema would you like to see built in Gungahlin? There is a Facebook page on this topic and asking these very questions, Cinema for Gungahlin. Head on over and share your views. Feel free to add to the conversation on our Facebook page about what other entertainment facilities you would like to see in Gungahlin.

My concern is that whatever is built today needs to be able to be expanded on in the future to accomodate further population growth and demand. I would hate to see a 2 screen cinema built and that’s all it will ever be. On the Facebook page Meegan has posted she has been advised that Gungahlin’s current population could support a 4-5 screen cinema.
