A 17-year-old male will face court this morning (Monday, December 3) after allegedly assaulting three people on Saturday night (December 1).
Around 8:30pm an off-duty police officer drove past the Gungahlin McDonalds restaurant and witnessed a young man pulling a pizza delivery driver out of his vehicle and allegedly punching him.
The officer stopped his vehicle and separated the two males. The teenager was verbally aggressive towards the officer however he managed get him to move away from the driver. The teenager returned a short time later and a woman, who witnessed the initial assault, tried to intervene. The offender then assaulted the woman and the police officer, who had attempted to negotiate with the youth.
The teenager was arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House, where he was charged with two counts of assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He will appear before the ACT Children’s Court this morning.
