Alleged Gungahlin tool thief nabbed

A 22-year-old Young man has been extradited to the ACT in relation to dozens of thefts in the ACT region spanning a two month period late last year.

Between September and October 2012 ACT Policing received numerous reports of thefts of construction tools from tradesmen’s vehicles, in particular within the Gungahlin area.

Gungahlin Patrol members, in conjunction with ACT Policing Intelligence developed Operation Mara to investigate these thefts.

Police identified a vehicle of interest, and conducted made numerous inquiries within ACT and regional NSW. This resulted in the arrest and extradition of the man from Wagga Local Court this morning.

The 22-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today charged with multiple counts of theft.
