Necessary works may reduce water pressure in Casey and Nicholls

Icon Water crews will be conducting necessary maintenance work (installing additional valves in the water network) to minimise disruption to our customers in the future. Maintenance activity will take place on Wednesday, 9 September 2015 which will trigger a supply interruption for a short period for some residents, and may lead to reduced water pressure or possible water discolouration to customers in Casey and Nicholls.

Our experienced staff will be conducting the works during off-peak usage periods, from 9:00am to 3:00pm, to limit any disruption to our community.

We are asking customers in the suburbs of Casey and Nicholls to reduce their water usage on Wednesday, 9 September 2015 between 9:00am and 3:00pm, which includes avoiding the use of dishwashers and washing machines. Ensuring less usage on that day will go some way to assist in reserving supply, which will serve as a contingency for maintaining pressure.

Repairs and the supply of water is expected to be complete and reinstated by Wednesday afternoon.

Isolation of a few sections of mains is required in order to undertake the work. When these mains are isolated, water will flow in the reverse direction in parts of the network. A water flow reversal can stir the natural sediment in the network creating water discolouration.

It is not recommended that you drink the water if it appears, tastes or smells objectionable. Customers experiencing discoloured water are advised not to use washing machines and dishwashers as it may stain clothing or clog filters.

Whilst it is difficult to predict to what degree the water will be affected, Icon Water advises that any discolouration should clear and pressure will restore with normal use. If you are experiencing any issues as a result of the reduced water pressure, discolouration or supply after 3:00pm on Wednesday, 7 September 2015, please call 02 6248 3111 and select option 1.
