In October this year, three weeks before he gets married Gungahlin local Tom and his mate Mitch will be embracing on an adventure like no other!

They have been selected to take part in the mystery box rally, in the aim of raising much needed funds for the Cancer Council!

The Mystery box rally is based on the much loved Sh!t Box Rally, but the catch is… its all a mystery.

They fly into Melbourne on Friday the 11th of October. That evening they will attend an auction where they will have the chance to bid on 50 cars, sight unseen. They don’t know what’s coming out next and they have no idea what condition the cars are in. They will be bidding with the money they have fundraised which all goes to the Cancer Council. The next morning things get interesting. They will be given a map in which their daily destination will be!!!. They have no idea where they be going and no idea what they will be driving!!! They have been advised to budget for 2500km of driving over a 5 day period!

50 teams from all around Australia have been selected. And so far they are the only team from Canberra!!!

They will be roughing it, sleeping in swags and driving on rough corrugated tracks. Tom share with us his nervousness but declared “I CANT WAIT!”

Tom shared with us having several family members from his side of the family as well as his fiancée Kiri’s family battling cancer. Tom said “I feel that its just not about the adventure and good time, but also the serious side of making a massive difference!!”

The minimum fundraising total has to be $3000 dollars or more. To help raise funds Tom and Mitch have offered. “For any company that sponsors us, we will be sticker bombing the car with there logos etc!!!”

They are looking for support and to raise as much money as they can for this very important cause!!!

Every cent counts!!!

You can donate here and follow their journey on their Facebook page. I am sure they will also post updates to our Facebook page.
