With less than one week to go until the Anzac Day Dawn Service and National Ceremony, ACTION Chief Operating Officer, Bren Burkevics, today reminded people to Register to Ride for special free ACTION bus services.
“Over 1200 people have so far registered their desire to travel on the special bus services, which will be running from major bus stations as well the Canberra Centre,” Mr Burkevics said.
“Free ACTION buses to the Dawn Service will depart from the Gungahlin, Westfield Belconnen, Woden and Tuggeranong bus station at a set time. Alternatively park your car and catch a loop shuttle bus that will operate from Majura Park Shopping Centre, Russell Offices, Canberra Centre (Ballumbir Street) and the City Bus Station.
“Shuttles for the National Ceremony will operate from Majura Park Shopping Centre, Russell Offices and the Canberra Centre.
“This is the first time ACTION has used Register to Ride to manage interest from people wishing to travel by bus to these two special Anzac Day events.
“Register to Ride allows ACTION to better monitor and manage customer demand for bus services.
“Passengers can Register to Ride via the ACTION website at action.act.gov.au. Those without internet access can call 13 17 10 and they will be registered by a customer service officer and sent by post a copy of their registration.
“To register, passengers will need to choose the location they wish to board the bus from and how many passengers are in their party. Confirmation of registration will then be provided.
“With parking at the venue limited, taking a bus to these events or combining driving and bus travel are convenient ways to ensure those wanting to pay their respects can attend these special commemorations.”
Passengers who wear or display their war service medals can ride on any ACTION bus for free during Anzac Day with ACTION buses operating to a Sunday timetable during the public holiday.
