I received this today from Fiona Nicholls – Defence Transition Mentor from the Gungahlin College:

On 27th March My Gungahlin received a post on their Facebook regarding an incident that happened outside the Gungahlin Library.

My grandma was by herself outside the Gungahlin Library and blacked out today (27/3/13) at around 10am. She fell and then remembers waking up in hospital. I would like to find out who the good person was who sat with her and called the ambulance so I can say a huge thankyou from the bottom of my heart. If it wasn’t for you she may not be here.” – Bel

Further posts revealed that two boys from Gungahlin College were the good Samaritans – Corey Stinson and Brody Green.

Mark Scarborough who runs the website and Facebook page My Gungahlin contacted Gungahlin Rotary and myself to see if these two boys could be formally recognised for their gallant actions. Rotary were thrilled to be able to organise and present the two boys with a citizenship award. On Monday 29th July Corey Stinson was present to accept his award from Ian Foster (Gungahlin Rotary) in front of the Gungahlin College community, friends and family at an awards assembly.

Brody Green was unable to attend on the day to receive his award.
