Bunnings General Manager of Property, Andrew Marks has confirmed with us the construction of the new Bunnings Warehouse in Gungahlin is on track to open by the end of 2015.
ADCO Construction was appointed to complete the $59 million Bunnings Warehouse and have kept the project on schedule.
The opening of the Bunnings Warehouse Gungahlin will offer strong employment opportunities for local Gungahlin resident with 180 jobs expected to be created in the local community. Additionally 520 construction jobs will have been created through the construction process.
Construction of the new Warehouse is currently underway with all earthworks, external concrete slabs and wall panels in place. The Warehouse steelworks and roof are in progress with external road-works to commence soon.
Bunnings Warehouse Gungahlin will have an approximate total store size of 17,000 square metres, ensuring an even wider range of products for local customers. The development will include a main warehouse, indoor trade sales area. building materials and landscape supplies yard and outdoor nursery, an indoor playground and cafe, and provide parking for over 420 cars.
In line with Bunnings’ commitment to sustainability Bunnings Warehouse Gungahlin will implement a number of energy and water saving design features. These design features will include; energy efficient fluorescent and LED lighting and rainwater harvesting tanks that will be used to irrigate the nursery and service the Warehouse’s amenities, along with solar boosted hot water system to reduce energy consumption.
