Ready Steady Go Kids is Australia’s largest multi-sport and exercise program for preschoolers (aged 2.5–6). It wasn’t until local mum Leonie Collis tried to enrol her four year old son in Ready Steady Go Kids that she realised the program wasn’t offered in Canberra.

“I felt that Canberra kids were really missing out on something special; that it wasn’t fair,” Ms Collis said. “So I decided to do something about it.”

Leonie, Canberra’s latest Ready Steady Go Kids franchisee, will begin offering Australia’s largest and most reputable multi-sport and exercise program for preschoolers, to local children in term 1, 2013 at Belconnen, Palmerston and Forde.

The program, currently run at over 90 locations throughout Australia, is physio-designed and specifically tailored to children aged two-and-a-half to six years. Aimed at helping kids develop a lifelong love for physical activity, classes cover the fundamentals of ten different sports in a fun, welcoming environment while developing age-appropriate motor skills.

Kids also learn about the concept of sportsmanship by taking turns, playing by the rules and cooperating with their team mates, making Ready Steady Go Kids the ideal precursor to school days ahead. And Leonie just can’t wait to offer all of its benefits to the kids of Canberra.

“The program is a great way to help kids and parents understand that active pursuits are easy, great fun and accessible to everyone,” Ms Collis said. “Canberra has so many parks and open spaces; I’d love to see more kids out there and playing.”

“I love introducing kids to sports they’ve never seen such as hockey, golf or tee-ball. It’s such a buzz to see them hold the stick or bat for the first time and immediately get in amongst it. I also love that parents often come onto the court with their kids and get involved too; it really contributes to the fun of the program while also providing a great environment for bonding.”

“Leonie’s enthusiasm for the program and the kids is fantastic,” Ready Steady Go Kids Director, Stuart Derbyshire said. “She’s so committed to our company’s vision of helping children to become more healthy and active.”

For families wishing to find out more about the program, Open Days will be offered at Palmerston Primary School on Saturday 2 February and Belconnen Basketball Centre on Sunday 3 February from 9.30 am until 11.30 am on both days. The Open Days will offer sports circuits, fun filled games and activities using a range of sporting equipment and free

face painting.
