As reported by Gungahlin Eyewatch.

ACT Policing Traffic Operations members have seized a Holden Caprice after several burnouts were allegedly conducted in both Nicholls and Woden over the past few weeks.

Around 7pm on Tuesday (22 April) a member of the community heard a vehicle conduct a burnout in a suburban street of Nicholls and went outside to observe the incident where a lot of smoke was seen in the air and black tyre marks were left on the road surface.

The witness took photographs of the scene and reported the incident to police. Whilst the witness was unable to provide police with details of the vehicle, they did mention a vehicle (which is garaged close by) was suspected to have been involved.

Around 6.45am on Thursday (2 May) an off-duty ACT Policing officer witnessed the suspected vehicle (a Holden Caprice sedan) conduct a burnout on the on-ramp from the Tuggeranong Parkway to Hindmarsh Drive in Woden. The off-duty officer reported the incident to police on the day of the incident and submitted a statement.

Officers from ACT Policing Traffic Operations caught up with the registered owner of the Holden sedan earlier last week and the alleged driver is to be summonsed to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court. The vehicle was also seized by police for 90 days and enquiries are continuing into the burnout on (22 April) in Nicholls.

If you witnessed either one of these incidents or have further information please contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 quoting reference 5603752. Information can be provided anonymously.
