The ACT Government would like to advise motorists and other road users that an additional westbound lane on Parkes Way will be open between Clunies Ross Street bridge and Glenloch Interchange from Wednesday 22 May 2013.

The additional lane was constructed as part of the $14.7 million Parkes Way widening project which will increase the capacity of Parkes Way between Glenloch Interchange and Edinburgh Avenue.

Cyclists will continue to be detoured from Parkes Way to the Lake Burley Griffin shared path.

The speed limit will remain at 60 kilometres per hour to ensure the safety of construction staff and motorists while work is underway on the eastbound lanes.

The Parkes Way widening project is expected to be completed in September 2013. Work is currently underway on the widening the Clunies Ross Street bridge and Sullivans Creek bridge.

The ACT Government would like to thank Canberrans for their patience throughout the road works and encourages them to use alternative routes where possible or factor extended travel times into their commute.

For up-to-date information on road closures please call Canberra Connect on 13 22 81.
