Stolen car located in Amaroo with firearms inside

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses after a stolen motor vehicle containing a firearm and ammunition was located in Amaroo yesterday (24 August 2016).

About 11.20pm, police in the area of Bywaters Street, Amaroo, noticed a white Toyota Prado parked outside a property. Police identified the vehicle as having been stolen during the burglary of a Ngunnawal residence on 10 August.

The vehicle was seized and lodged at the AFP Exhibit Management Centre, where an initial search of the vehicle was conducted and police located a sawn off bolt action rifle and ammunition.

The vehicle and items seized will undergo further forensic examination.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Police believe the vehicle may have been left at the location in Bywaters Street Amaroo at some time after 10.00pm and before 11.20pm on Wednesday 24 August.
