ACT Policing has extradited a man from Young, NSW in relation to the theft of tools from construction sites which occurred in late 2012.

Yesterday (15 November) ACT Policing General Duties members from Gungahlin Station attended the Young Local Court to apply for the extradition of the 25-year-old-man after he was arrested by NSW Police Force officers.

The extradition was approved by the presiding magistrate and the man was placed into the custody of the ACT Policing officers and conveyed to the ACT Watch House.

North District Superintendent Brett Kidner said this is the second extradition in recent weeks and demonstrated the good working relationship between the NSW Police Force and ACT Policing.

“This arrest and extradition occurred due to an excellent cooperative working relationship between the NSW Police Force officers in Young and the officers from Gungahlin General Duties.

“This extradition demonstrates that ACT Policing will extradite people back to the ACT if they choose to commit offences in the ACT and then flee the territory to avoid apprehension,” Superintendent Kidner said.

The man will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday, 18 November. Police will be opposing bail.
