Mrs Moira Najdecki, Director of Catholic Education in the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn, announced today that the new Gungahlin Catholic Secondary School – John Paul College, will commence for students from the beginning of the 2013 school year.

“I am very pleased this school is set to become a reality and we will be working closely with the ACT Government to ensure that planning and building works proceed as seamlessly as possible.”

John Paul College will offer Year 7 from 2013 and will cater for up to 1200 students across all secondary school levels by 2018. “When Stage One of the school opens in a specially designed facility at Mother Teresa School Harrison in 2013, it will cater for up to 210 students and we expect enrolments to grow to 420 when the building of the new College is completed for the beginning of the 2014 school year,” said Mrs Najdecki.

Mrs Najdecki said that nationwide advertising for the foundation Principal of the College has commenced with an announcement of the appointment expected in late April.
