This week over 30 young girls from Gungahlin United’s Under 7-9 Community teams trained with the Women’s Premier League 1st Grade team.

GUFC 1st Grade coach, Diego Iglesias, supported by a number of the 1st Grade players, volunteered their time to lead the girls through a series of drills and finished the session with small sided games.Much fun was had by all with the training session a season highlight for the younger players.

One of the younger teams, The Firebird’s, will also be ball girls this Sunday at GEO for the 1st Grade game GUFC v Canberra Olympic, which starts at 3pm. It is a crucial game as both teams are battling it out for 4th place.

Last night’s training is part of Gungahlin United’s focus this year to ensure we keep girls in football and show them there is a pathway to continue playing.
