A Gungahlin man in his 50s is finishing the week on a high after discovering he’s won $100,000 in the latest Lucky Lotteries draw today (5 March).
“It’s certainly not a bad way to end the week,” the man, who wished to remain anonymous, said when contacted by a Lottery official.
“I was just saying to a work colleague that I had won $17 in Lotto the other day. I was chuffed with that!
“This is just incredible.”
The man said he intended to enjoy his prize but had one important person to tell first before making any concrete plans.
“I will definitely go out for a nice meal tonight to celebrate and break the news to my wife. I am sure she will have plenty of ideas of how to spend it,” he said.
“It’s certainly come at a good time. We are buying a new home, so it will put a nice dent in the mortgage.”
The regular player purchased his winning entry of four random numbers online at thelott.com.
The latest windfall is among a string of Canberrans who have cleaned up in lotteries lately.
A Canberra man in his early 20s will receive $4.8 million, paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years, after being declared the sole division one winner of the Set for Life draw on 27 January.
A Charnwood man won more than $11 million in October last year, while another Canberran won almost $1 million two weeks later.
