The 2013 Slater & Gordon GIANTS Academy squads have been selected after a successful zone development series. The Gungahlin Jets football club would like to congratulate Kieren Whyte for his selection in the 2013 Under 15 Giants Academy program.

Selection in the Giant’s Academy is a fantastic achievement for young talented players, and is a reflection of, and reward for, all of the hard work that the players have put in over the past three months in the development series.

Slater & Gordon GIANTS Academy Manager, Lachlan Buszard congratulated those selected and said that the “Academy is about developing players to be the best that they can be and for those that have AFL aspirations, the work has really only just begun.

“Joseph Redfern and Zac Williams were in the same position as many of the players who have just been selected in the Academy at the start of last year and now they are on our AFL list so this is a fantastic example of where this pathway can take you,” Buszard said.

The Under 15 Slater and Gordon GIANTS Academy will play in the Under 15 V-Line competition where a squad of 25 players will be selected to participate in Melbourne from April 6th – Thursday 11th April. An Academy Squad will be selected and players monitored throughout the year for participating in the Academy series v Gold Coast, Lions and Swans in September 2013 at Coffs Harbour. Players will train weekly at a regional centre of Excellence.

The Jets look forward to watching Kieren’s progress during the year.
