The Gungahlin based ACT Government office block is one step closer after a request for tender has been released to five Canberra developers. These developers were short-listed in February this year and invited to participate in the process.
A detailed functional design brief outlining the Government’s requirements has been prepared and the short-listed developers have now received this along with the request for tender. There is a mix with these developers of those who own their own land and those that wish to build on ACT Government land.
It is expected that the ACT Government will located about 500 staff from it’s ACT Government Shared Services section. This will provide a welcome boost to businesses operating in the Gungahlin town centre.
One of the requirements of the facility will be an on-site child-care centre catering for at least 90 children. This is great news with the demand for child-care spaces in Gungahlin. Another proposed development currently under development application show’s plans for a child-care centre as well.
MLA Andrew Barr has announced it is anticipated that the successful tenderer will be known by early September, with the building to be occupied by late 2014.
