The ACT Government is committed to building more schools across Canberra and investing in our existing ones so kids can always find a place at a good local school close to home.

Public school enrollments in the north of Canberra have grown by about 53 per cent over the last five years. This budget will expand capacity of Harrison School, Gold Creek School, Neville Bonner Primary School and Palmerston District Primary School.

This 2017-18 Budget will also increase the scope of the new proposed North Gungahlin school, to include a community use oval which is due to open at the start of 2019. The Government will provide $1.972 million to deliver this additional recreation and sporting ground for the North Gungahlin community.

The Government is also exploring options for a new school in East Gungahlin to continue to meet the needs of this growing population as well as delivering valuable community infrastructure and public benefits to the community.
