A 14-year-old has been arrested after allegedly pointing a firearm at a security staffer at Gungahlin Village.

Police received reports two young people had pulled out what appeared to be a firearm and pointed it at one of the shopping centre’s staff on Wednesday (21 September).

Officers reviewed CCTV footage before they went to a home in a nearby suburb, where they arrested a 14-year-old and charged them with possession of a firearm in a public place.

Police later located the firearm at the home of one of the 14-year-old’s friends. This person’s alleged involvement was still under investigation.

The weapon was identified as a gel blaster.
