A 23-year-old McKellar man and a 23-year-old Spence man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today charged with drug offences following a vehicle stop on Mulligans Flat Road, Throsby yesterday (Monday, July 8).

Around 1.30pm members of the Drug and Organised Crime team conducted a vehicle stop on a light rigid truck. A search of the vehicle revealed 78 mature cannabis plants. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House, while the passenger was released from the scene.

Subsequent police enquiries revealed the cannabis was cultivated at a premises in Charnwood. Police attended the premises and located a male person, who fled on foot. He was later found nearby and arrested.

A search warrant commenced at the premises and a sophisticated hydroponic set-up was located in two rear sheds.

The two men will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today on charges of possession of a trafficable quantity of drugs, and cultivation of a prohibited plant.
