ACT Policing is reminding motorists to drive safely over the weekend and leading up to ANZAC Day and warning that double demerit points will be in place from the first instance on Friday 21 April 2017 through until the last instance on Tuesday 25 April 2017.

Officer-in-Charge of Traffic Operations, Acting Station Sergeant Marcus Boorman said motorists that choose to disobey the road rules will be targeted.

“After the number of disappointing and downright concerning traffic incidents which occurred last weekend, I remind drivers that police will continue to target dangerous behaviour on our roads over the ANZAC Day long weekend.”

“Road safety begins with the person behind the wheel or the rider of the motorcycle. We expect drivers and riders to adhere to the road rules and drive with a focus on being the safest driver they can be,” Sergeant Boorman said.

“Remember to take regular rest breaks if you are travelling interstate and be patient on the roads. Road safety is everyone’s responsibility.”
