This week Bunnings Chief Operating Officer, Peter Davis announced the commencement of the Bunnings development in Gungahlin.
•Development of the new $59 million Bunnings Warehouse Gungahlin is currently on schedule. Construction has recently commenced with ADCO Constructions appointed as the builder.
•Approximately 180 jobs are expected to be created in the local community following the opening of the Warehouse, offering strong employment opportunities for local Gungahlin residents.
•Additionally, approximately 520 construction jobs will be created through the construction process.
•Once completed, the new Warehouse will have a total area of more than 17,000 square metres, comprising of the main store, indoor timber trade sales area, building materials and landscape supplies yard and outdoor nursery. The development of Bunnings Warehouse Gungahlin will also include an indoor playground, cafe, and provide parking for over 380 cars.
•In addition, the new development will include 5,200 square metres of extra retail space for lease, creating further employment opportunities for local residents. LJ Hooker Canberra has been appointed to lease the tenancies on Bunnings behalf.
•In line with Bunnings’ commitment to sustainability Bunnings Warehouse Gungahlin will implement a number of energy and water saving design features, including energy efficient fluorescent and LED lighting and rainwater harvesting tanks that will be used to irrigate the nursery and service the Warehouse’s amenities. A solar boosted hot water system will also reduce energy consumption.
•Bunnings Warehouse Gungahlin will offer a wide range of leading Australian brands and products along with specialised trade supplies to meet the community’s needs. Local customers will enjoy the convenience of the widest range of home improvement and outdoor living products at the lowest prices.
•Bunnings Warehouse Gungahlin will also stock a wide range of products to help customers live sustainably by reducing their energy, water and waste consumption, including water saving taps, LED lights, energy efficient cooling devices and garden care products.
•Bunnings Warehouse Gungahlin will be located on the corner of Hibberson and Gribble Streets and is expected to open in late 2015.
