Yesterday, Communities@Work’s yellow van food rescue service picked up a large donation from an anonymous donor for their community pantry. A very generous donor decided to purchase and donate items for people in need as his way of giving back to his community. His donation also honours his wife’s love of cooking, something that she is unable to do now as she is in a nursing home.
Communities@Work’s social programs serve the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the local community and support low income families and individuals, the homeless, women and children fleeing domestic violence and at-risk young people. Communities@Work aims to provide a continuum of care for clients that addresses their immediate needs and deliver services that empower people to create better futures.
The community pantry in Gungahlin is open Monday to Friday 9am-3pm and is located at the Gungahlin Community Centre, 47 Ernest Cavanagh St. Individuals and families are welcome to become members of the pantry or access emergency relief services.
