ACTION is asking anyone wishing to travel on special bus services for free to the Anzac Day Dawn Service or the National Ceremony to ‘Register to Ride’ online to help ensure the public transport provided is reliable and accessible.
“Register to Ride will be used for the first time by ACTION to manage interest from people wishing to travel by bus to both the Dawn Service and the National Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial on ANZAC Day,” Minister for Transport and Municipal Services Meegan Fitzharris said today.
“Register to Ride will be free and will allow ACTION to better monitor and manage customer demand for bus services for these special events.
“Passengers can Register to Ride via the ACTION website at action.act.gov.au. Those without internet access can call 13 17 10 and they will be registered by a customer service officer and sent by post a copy of their registration.
“To register, passengers will need to choose the location they wish to board the bus from and how many passengers are in their party. Confirmation of registration will then be provided.
“With parking at the venue limited, taking a bus to these events or combining driving and bus travel are convenient ways to ensure those wanting to pay their respects can attend these special commemorations.
“The ACTION website has all the information you need about departure times and locations for both the Dawn Service and the National Ceremony. Return services will depart 20 minutes after each event. People do not need to register their return travel,” Minister Fitzharris said.
Passengers who wear or display their war service medals can ride on any ACTION bus for free during Anzac Day with ACTION buses riding to a Sunday timetable during the public holiday.
