For Canberra Metro construction, Flemington Road between Wizard Street and Manning Clark Crescent will require the closure of north and south bound lanes for one week from Sunday 20 August 2017.
As part of these works, construction crews will be installing new stormwater drainage and connection to existing manholes in preparation for the laying of track in coming months. Both lanes on Flemington Road at the time of closure will have restrictions for traffic travelling north and south. The closures will be conducted in two stages. As part of stage one, northbound lanes will be closed to traffic. Once complete, crews will then begin work on stage two and close all southbound lanes. Traffic management measures to assist motorists, pedestrians and cyclists will be in place throughout these works including signage and personnel. Traffic detours will be in place and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.
Working hours for these stormwater associated works is Sunday to Friday, 8pm to 6am. Due to the nature of the work, some of the activities will be noisy. The project team will limit these impacts wherever possible by reducing the number of machines operating at the same time and turning off equipment when not in use. Non-tonal reversing beepers will be used and workers will be instructed to keep noise to a minimum. Equipment will include excavators with a hammer, vehicles, trucks, road saw, ring saw, rollers, lighting towers and hand tools.
Please note, if unfavourable weather or ground conditions are encountered, the works may extend into the following week.
