Parents of Canberra, rejoice! The holidays end next week and Transport Canberra is ready to get kids back to school on one of their many regular or school services.
“ACT schools resume on Monday 30 January 2017 for new students and Tuesday 31 January for returning students, and Transport Canberra is reminding residents that there are a number of great services to get kids to school and back again,” Director, Public Transport Operations, Ian McGlinn, said.
“Our school routes remain unchanged for 2017, so for most people will be able to catch the same bus as they did last year.
“If your child is new to school or changing schools, then check available school or regular bus route and timetable information on the Transport Canberra website. While school bus services are available to school students only, parents with young children may apply to travel on these services for a few weeks to help their child get used to bus travel.”
Transport Canberra ask that parents familiarise themselves and their kids with the route so they know which stop the bus will pick up from in the morning and where to get off at the end of the day.
“We also recommend you make sure your child has a MyWay Card, that it is registered and topped up with sufficient funds. A MyWay card is easy to get and will save you money. The card can be topped up online or over the phone using a credit card, by B-Pay, or by Autoload direct debit.
“Card holders can save an additional 5 percent on all ACTION bus fares by activating Autoload on their MyWay card. With the online form, there are options to nominate a bank account or credit card to activate direct debit when travel credit gets below $10.”
