A 28-year-old Amaroo man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (Thursday, 6 October) on drug, weapon and possession of stolen property charges.
About 1.50am this morning, City Patrol officers attended Berrigan Crescent in O’Connor in response to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the underground carpark of a unit complex.
Through the carpark roller door, police observed two men running towards an orange Subaru Impreza. Police directed the two men to stop and following a short foot pursuit, a 28-year-old man was arrested.
Police located drugs and a conducted energy weapon on the man. He was transported to the ACT Watch House where he was charged with traffic in controlled drug, possessing a prohibited weapon without authority and unlawful possession of stolen property.
Acting Superintendent of North District, Greg O’Ryan said that police would like to thank the member of the public who reported the suspicious vehicle, leading to the arrest of this man.
“This type of information greatly assists police to not only solve crime, but assists to prevent further crime as well,” Acting Superintendent O’Ryan said.
Investigations are ongoing, with police seeking to identify the second man. The man is described as 175 to 180cm (5’9” to 5’11”) tall, dark curly unkempt hair and facial stubble. At the time he was wearing a dark hooded top, a cap and dark pants.
