Canberrans heading to Skyfire this Saturday are urged to avoid parking hassles by catching one of ACTION’s special Skyfire services to and from the event.
ACTION buses, in partnership with Hit 104.7, will provide additional services to take Canberrans to Lake Burley Griffin with free chartered return services to major bus stations afterwards.
“Over the years it has become a tradition for many locals to see the fireworks by the lake and ACTION will once again assist people to get to and from the big event with services operating from all major bus stations,” Ian McGlinn, Acting Director, Public Transport said.
“Two special Skyfire services Routes 992 (Tuggeranong departure) and 994 (Gungahlin departure) as well as the Inter-town Blue Rapid 900 (Tuggeranong depature) will all take you directly to bus stops on Commonwealth Avenue at Regatta Point and Albert Hall. As regular fares will apply on these services, I encourage everyone to plan ahead and get a MyWay card to pay the cheapest fare.
“The 900 Blue Rapid and 994 services will run from 3.40 pm till 6.30 pm every 15 minutes with ACTION’s 992 service leaving every 20 minutes from 3.30 pm till 6.30 pm to take event goers to Lake Burley Griffin.
“Residents from all other parts of Canberra can take a number of regular services into the City, Woden or Belconnen and transfer onto a Blue Rapid 900 to take them to Skyfire.
“Getting home will also be easy with free charted buses from the event to major bus stations. These services will depart regularly from both the Regatta Point bus stops on Commonwealth Avenue and Langton Crescent, Parkes (Treasury Building car park) following the event from 8.45pm.
“With the extra Skyfire services the ACTION team are delivering, it will be easy to leave the car at home and catch a bus. The ACT Government is committed to delivering a transport system that is convenient, efficient, affordable and reliable,” Mr McGlinn said.

Parking is also available within the Parliamentary Zone.
