It’s official! The first piece of soil at the raize the roof Charity House has been turned!
On Thursday, 9 April 2015, a number of our dedicated volunteers and supporters did the runner from work and trekked out to Bonner to witness the official turning of the soil!
His Excellency, Mr Molosiwa Selepeng, High Commissioner of Botswana, unveiled the sod-turning ceremony with Starlight Hospital Programs Manager, Nielsen Gordon, by his side.
Meegan Fitzharris, Member for Molonglo and Gunghalin also joined us on the day too!
Since securing land through the ACT Government’s Land Rent Scheme and gaining approval for the charity house, our team has raised more than $130,000 through numerous fundraising events.
We would like to thank Costco, Hotel Queanbeyan and City Café for their donations for this event and look forward to working with them in the future.
While we’re almost ready to go, we still need your support. Individuals and organisations can ‘Buy a Brick’ and contribute to the project on our website: www.raizetheroof.org.au
Every little bit counts! Nails, paint, light switches – yes please! Rome wasn’t built in a day.
