The opening of the section of Horse Park Drive from Katherine Ave in Amaroo to Burrumurra Ave in Casey is the final major piece in the road network in Gungahlin, connecting to the Barton Highway and Federal Highway.

This section of road is an important part of the road network in North Canberra and will be a major timesaver for Gungahlin residents as well as those living in Belconnen and wishing to travel to Sydney, or connect to the Majura Parkway.

It will also reduce travel times for those who will soon be working on the provision of infrastructure for the new Gungahlin suburb of Moncrieff as well as being more convenient for those living in the suburbs of Casey, Jacka, Bonner, Amaroo and Ngunnawal.

The final section of Horse Park Drive has been completed both on time and on budget and is testament to the project team at Economic Development and the work of local companies Brown Consulting and SMEC.

Good infrastructure is vital to the continued growth of our economy and the ACT Government will continue its considerable investment in Canberra’s future.

Alongside the Gungahlin Leisure Centre and Gungahlin Enclosed Oval announced earlier this year, this milestone ensures Gungahlin has the infrastructure to meet the needs of its growing population.

Canberra has the best road network in Australia, and the ACT Government is committed to maintaining and improving our network including significant funding of the upgrade of key intersections and transport corridors.
