Three people have been taken to hospital, one in a critical condition, following a two-vehicle smash on Gungahlin Drive overnight.
Emergency services were called at about 6:45 pm on Saturday (8 April) to reports of a crash at the intersection of Gungahlin Drive and Well Station Drive.
Inspector Craig McPherson said it appeared a northbound car was turning right into Wells Station Drive when the collision occurred.
“We certainly think we understand what’s occurred, but we need to speak to a few more people and have our Major Crash Team do their investigation before we jump to any further conclusions,” he said.
The adult occupant of the southbound vehicle was taken to hospital in a critical condition, while the two adults from the northbound vehicle suffered serious injuries.
Inspector McPherson had a message for all motorists travelling throughout the Capital region over the Easter holiday.
“Our road transport system is a good thing but from time to time we make errors, and some of those errors are around not paying attention,” he said.
“I’d like to think a collision like this one was avoidable.
“So take your time, be careful, obey the road rules, don’t use your phone, don’t drink and drive, look after each other.”
