Road users are advised that a westbound traffic switch is expected to take place, Friday 15 March 2019, on Horse Park Drive between the Federal Highway and Well Station Drive to allow works to be undertaken in the median.
Works are currently underway on the duplication of Horse Park Drive between the Federal Highway and Well Station Drive and on safety improvements at the Katherine Avenue (west) intersection near Amaroo School.
Location and timing of changed traffic arrangements
A traffic switch on Horse Park Drive between the Federal Highway and Well Station Drive is expected to take place on Friday 15 March 2019 following morning peak. Westbound traffic (travelling towards Gungahlin) will be moved onto the new carriageway whilst eastbound traffic (travelling towards the Federal Highway) will remain as is. Traffic will still be one way in each direction, leaving the two lanes on either side of the median closed to ensure safety of workers until works are complete.
Roadside signage will alert road users to the changed traffic arrangements. Reduced speed limits will remain in place until all works have been completed. In the event of unexpected delays, including inclement weather, road users should take note of roadside signage which will advise them of the new date.
These median works will complete major roadworks on this project. Minor works, including landscaping, remain outstanding and are expected to be completed mid-year.
Additional road closures
Motorists are also advised that the following road closures will be in place in coming weeks:
- Francis Forde Boulevard will be closed eastbound from Horse Park Drive to Ada Baker Street/Neil Harris Crescent from 7 am to 2 pm on Saturday 16 March 2019. In case of unexpected delays including inclement weather, these works may also be carried out on Saturday 23 and 30 March 2019.
- Mornington Street will be closed in both directions from Horse Park Drive to Buckingham Street from 7 am on Monday 18 March til 5 pm on Thursday 21 March 2019.
