Local Gungahlin MLA Meegan Fitzharris today officially opened the new Moncrieff Display Village featuring 12 homes with a focus on innovative design, sustainability and liveability.
“The opening of this display village so early in the suburb’s development will allow those who have purchased land in Moncrieff the opportunity to seek inspiration for their own new homes,” Minister Fitzharris said.
“A number of settlements are occurring earlier than originally anticipated thanks to the massive amount of work undertaken on civil and infrastructure construction.
“In 2014 the ACT Government announced an Economic Stimulus Package to provide confidence and economic stimulus for the ACT construction industry. This included an injection of $90 million to allow civil construction work across all five stages of Moncrieff to be undertaken concurrently.
“Moncrieff will be a great suburb, with provision for an independent school site and around 2,500 new homes. I’ve spoken to a number of people who have bought land in Moncrieff, so I know today will help them see the light at the end of the tunnel.
“We are also keen to ensure this new development, and others around Gungahlin, are supported by good infrastructure and safer roads, and I’m pleased to say work is underway to ensure Horse Park Drive can meet the demand this new suburb will create.
“The Moncrieff Display Village again highlights the broad range of opportunities and innovations that are available to our community. The collaboration between the Land Development Agency and the Master Builders Association on this exciting project is a wonderful example of government and industry working together,” said Minister Fitzharris.
