Work will commence next week to undertake road maintenance on Hibberson Street in Gungahlin, Ken Marshall, Acting Director, Roads ACT, announced.

“As part of the ACT Government’s commitment to maintain and upgrade the road network, drainage and asphalt resurfacing work will be conducted on Hibberson Street between Monday 9 September and Wednesday 11 September 2013, weather permitting,” Mr Marshall said

“The work will be undertaken in two stages.

“Stage one work will be carried out on Monday 9 September between 7 am and 7 pm and will involve the removal of selected sections of road pavement and installation of a new road drainage system.

“Temporary lane closures will be in place while this work is underway as well as temporary restrictions on parking in the taxi and loading bay zones.

“Stage two – asphalt work – will be carried out on Tuesday 10 September between 7 pm and 7 am. Both lanes will be closed during this time.

“Asphalt work will continue on Wednesday between 7 am and 7 pm. Temporary lane closures will be in place while this work is underway as well as temporary restriction on parking at the taxi and loading zones. Alternative parking, including disability parking bays, are available at Gungahlin Marketplace.

“Access to the shopping centre will be maintained at all times and barriers as well as detour signage will be in place to alert people to the changed traffic arrangements.

“Every effort will be made to minimise traffic disruptions during the work. We thank all road users, businesses and residents in the area for their patience while work is underway.”
