Canberra Community Sleepout

Lets wake up to a better Canberra.

On Friday 14 November, the Canberra community will come together for The Canberra Community Sleepout. We aim to have 1,000 Canberrans sleeping out at Canberra’s only family friendly Sleepout event, a partnership between Communities@Work and St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn.

Every night in Canberra, nearly 2,000 people are homeless, giving our city the 2nd highest homelessness rate in all of Australia. Sadly, half of Canberrans who seek emergency housing each night are turned away.

By curling up in our sleeping bags for one night, we can create greater awareness of this issue and raise much needed funds to change the lives of those who are currently experiencing homelessness in our community and assist those at risk of becoming homeless.

We can’t wait for you to join us at the Sleepout. Register today, join TEAM GUNGAHLIN and invite your family, friends, and colleagues to join us.

Click Start Fundraising to register for the Sleepout, join TEAM GUNGAHLIN and create your page. If you can’t sleep out, you can sponsor a sleeper or donate directly.

On arrival for the sleepout, you will be met by the Community Sleepout team. Once you have signed in, you can find your sleeping spot and meet other sleepers in TEAM GUNGAHLIN. Throughout the night there will be, family activities, presentations about homelessness, live music, interactive children’s activities and much more. Breakfast will be served up from 5:30am – 6:00am in the morning.

With thanks to the team at Telstra Shop Gungahlin they have donated an iPhone 4S to raffle off to support TEAM GUNGAHLIN’S fundraising. For each $10 you donate you will get an entry into the raffle, e.g. donate $50, you will get 5 entries. You can donate on the TEAM GUNGAHLIN sleepout fundraising page. Prize will be drawn at the SleepOut event.
