Just before 9am this morning ACT Fire & Rescue were alerted to a house fire in Honyong Crescent Ngunnawal.
Fire fighters attended the scene and were able to quickly contain the fire to a bedroom of the property then extinguish it.
The four occupants were inside the home when the fire started. They were alerted to the fire by a neighbour. Upon evacuating the house one of he occupants attempted to extinguish the fire using a garden hose.
It has been reported the fire was started by unattended smoking material and caused an estimated $20,000 in damages.
