On a sunny Sunday morning the Jets Women’s team assembled together to help run our new 6 week All-Girls Auskick program with a bundle of very excited young ladies. We had 16 signed up ready to go when we started our run around the oval, with another couple to come over the next few weeks.
The parents jumped in and joined in with some dodgeball, where amazingly none of the girls seemed to get hit by the ball…! We then spent the rest of the morning working on our kicking skills, with the favourite game definitely the one where the girls got to try and hit Liz and Britt with their kicking (with a fair few head shots that didn’t seem to be an accident).
The session ended up with every footy players favourite activity – kicking for goal.
The girls all ran off the oval with exclamations of “this was the best day ever” and “I can’t wait until next week, I am just going to sit here until then” so I think we have a success on our hands.
A big thanks to Scott for helping set it up, and an extra special thanks to Rach Dobing for sorting out the administration while we did all the fun stuff.
