Gundaroo Drive currently carries up to 23,000 vehicles a day, providing an important connection for Gungahlin residents travelling to Belconnen and south Canberra.
Roads ACT have identified the duplication of Gundaroo Drive as an upgrade requirement to improve safety, ease increasing congestion in the Gungahlin region, and manage traffic growth.
Stage 2 duplication works involve the construction of a second carriageway on Gundaroo Drive from Gungahlin Drive to the Barton Highway. Duplication of this section of the road will improve safety and relieve congestion in the growing Gungahlin region. On-road cycle lanes will be provided including safe passage around the three roundabouts on this section of road.

The ACT Government has allocated $30 million over the 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 financial years.
Construction is expected to commence in early 2018 and be completed in early 2020.
Traffic Impacts
The speed limit will be reduced between the Barton Highway and Gungahlin Drive as needed to ensure the safety of construction workers.
Note there are numerous projects on arterial and major roads in Gungahlin that are scheduled to be under construction at the same time and the ACT Government would like the thank motorists for their patience while these important works are undertaken.
