Four months after it closed its city bakery, Dobinsons has opened a new shopfront on Hibberson Street in the Marketplace Gungahlin.
It’s already proved popular with locals, with morning crowds three deep gathered outside the bakery in its first week.
Damian from Gungahlin has been a long time fan of the bakery. He said he was excited that it was just around the corner so he could take his family there on weekends.
“It’s awesome to have a Dobinsons so close now,” said Damian, who usually frequents the Woden store during the week.
“I took a big box of their cheesecakes, slices and pies to morning tea at my sister’s and not a crumb was left,” he laughed.
The new shopfront was also heavily celebrated on social media, inviting hundreds of comments from excited locals.
Dobinsons has attributed its success in Canberra to five generations of pastry chefs who all contributed to the family legacy of producing the finest quality and delicious pastries, starting in northern NSW over 125 years ago with the first Dobinsons bakery in Kyogle.
