Diversions will be in place to help drivers navigate the upcoming intersection closures as Light Rail Stage 1 works continue to progress along the Federal Highway and Northbourne Avenue. Canberra Metro are working hard to complete construction and to ensure these closures cause as little disruption as possible.
- From 8.00pm Friday 5 July until 6.00am Monday 8 July, motorists coming into Canberra from Sydney will not be able to turn right at the Barton Highway intersection on Northbourne Avenue. Motorists coming down the Barton Highway will not be able to turn right onto Northbourne Avenue towards the city. There will also be lane restrictions to northbound and southbound traffic near the intersection.
- From 8.00pm Friday 5 July until 6.00am Monday 8 July, the intersection at Alinga Street and Northbourne Avenue will be closed to cross street traffic and right turning traffic from Alinga street onto Northbourne Avenue. There will also be lane restrictions to northbound and southbound traffic near the intersection. Transport Canberra bus services will be affected during this closure, visit www.transport.act.gov.au website for further information.
Detours, traffic control and pedestrian management will be in place, and signage and personnel will be highly visible throughout the works. Motorists are encouraged to follow the detours and allow additional travel time over the affected weekends.
