As previously reported with works to ease traffic congestion on some of Gungahlin’s major routes will begin in coming weeks, one of these projects to upgrade the roundabout at Barton Highway and Gundaroo Drive. These upgrades are to improve safety and traffic flow, particularly in peak periods.
The roundabout will be upgraded to add additional lanes and traffic signals at all four approaches to the intersection. The traffic signals will be coordinated to control traffic flow through the intersection according to the time of day.
As part of the upgrades there will be improvements for on-road cyclists passing through three approaches to the intersection. A bus priority lane travelling east/west direction linking Gungahlin and Belconnen will also be added.
Construction is expected to commence soon.
