As reported last night we received a report of a person posing as a Telstra employee trying to gain access to a Gungahlin residents house.
Debbie reported: “FYI….I had a woman at my door this afternoon saying she was from Telstra and wanting to come inside to check my computer. I called Telstra who advised this woman was not legit. She had a lanyard around her neck with Telstra on the bottom of it….it was an old logo. Telstra advised me to contact the police to report this. Be aware and report it to the police if someone is knocking on your door on 131 444.”
We raised this with Telstra Countrywide area manager Chris Taylor who confirmed whilst there are Telstra door to door sales representatives in the area no-one would be asking to enter the premises to check computers. Mr Taylor has provided example of a Telstra ID badge. Mr Taylor has advised the door to door representatives will be in the area until the 2nd of February.
If you see anyone in your neighbourhood acting suspiciously contact ACT Police on 13 14 44. ”
