The ACT Government wishes to advise motorists and other road users that Morisset Road in Mitchell has reopened.
“The entire 850 metre length of Morisset Road has been replaced,” said Tony Gill, Director, Roads ACT.
“The upgrade was undertaken at a cost of $1.1 million and also included the widening of the road by one metre on either side to enhance safety as well as the upgrade of the road’s stormwater system to improve its drainage capacity.
“Roads all have a lifespan as they must withstand large loads and diverse weather conditions and Morisset Road had reached its time for an overhaul.
“Its upgrade will ensure a smoother drive or ride for the thousands of people who attend the Capital Region Farmers Market and other events at Exhibition Park each weekend and will do so ahead of time, with the works completed two weeks early.”
